We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it one more time. Our backers, all 443 of you, are the best.

Okay, so here’s a timeline of what’s coming next (AKA when do I get my stuff?).

1) Collection

Right now Kickstarter is processing everyone’s credit cards. If your card doesn’t go through (say if you cancelled it, got a new one, etc. since the start of the campaign), Kickstarter will reach out to you and ask you for a replacement. So look for that email. Currently there are still a couple outstanding that need to be updated. 

2) Surveys

Once Kickstarter is done with their part, then Backerkit takes over. They’ll send you a survey asking for shipping information, how you’d like your name listed in the PDF of Chapter Two and will give you the option to include any add on’s (an extra copy of the book, drink coast, etc.) you might like in your order.

3) PDF’s

Expect the PDF’s (for Chapter One and Two) to be sent out near the end of March. While the book is done, we still need to include all the names and create the “ad” section for our Charles Atlas tier members.  

4) Deluxe PDF of Chapter Two

Expect the Deluxe PDF of Chapter Two to come your way near the middle of April. Since we’re super-sizing it, we want to take the time to do it right.

5) Address Confirmation

When the books are getting close to arriving at White Ash HQ, Backerkit will send out an email asking you if you’ve moved. If so, you’ll be able to update your address to make sure your comics get to the right house/apt/yurt. This will probably be at the end of May early June.

6) Shipping Time

Come June, assuming all goes to plan, your books will be packed up and sent.

We will definitely keep you updated along the way. If there are any snafus, you will be the first to know. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re so excited to show you what we’re building in White Ash.

In the interim, you're always welcome to join Conor (and often Charlie... and hopefully Fin) on TWITCH.  We also have a monthly newsletter you can sign up for.  Now that the Kickstarter is over, there will be much less spamming to pledge and more interesting content, promise.

We should have known.  Our backers are simply the best.

14K!!! 

We did it. Unbelievable.

There are no words... but we'll type a few anyway. Mainly --Stretch Goal #5, the Trading Cards, are UNLOCKED.

And we still have 36 hours left.

So here's the deal, let's see how BIG we can make the set. For every additional $500 we raise, we’ll add another card to the set. So at $14,500 we’d do five cards… at $15,000 we’d do six… and so on.

And if we hit 15K, EVERY BACKER getting a physical reward, will get the whole card set. So tell your friends, there's even more White Ash to be had, and time is rapidly running out for them to get their piece of the coal-dusted pie.

Wow, just wow.

12K!!! All of us here at Team Ash are floored by your support for the book. And we’re thrilled we’ll now be able to give back. Stretch Goal #4, The Nick Robles Variant cover is UNLOCKED.

Every backer at the Both Covers pledge tier or higher, will get one of these for free. Variant Cover tier backers will be able to choose between the Robles cover and the V-Day variant that Conor and Fin drew.

And trust us, that’s going to be a hard choice. As much as we adore the love-inspired Variant designed by Team Ash, we’ve also gotten a peek at what Nick is cooking up and it’s going to be AWESOME. We’ll have an extra ten copies of the Robles Variant covers available as add ons post-campaign. But those will go fast, so if you want one, make sure you’re at the proper pledge tier as these will not be offered again.

Okay, we know, enough about what you’re already getting, what’s next?

Well, we’ve got FOUR DAYS left in the campaign. And one stretch goal at 14K to go.

Which we know is a lot. Basically…

STRETCH GOAL #5 Trading Cards

That's right, we’re going print up a set of four White Ash Trading Cards featuring our favorite residents.  All backers who pledged at The Book Tier will get one randomly selected card. Everyone who pledged at a higher tier will get the whole set. Conor and Fin are going to design some new artwork, exclusive to the cards. They’re going to the ultimate White Ash collectable.

Okay, that’s 14K, what happens if we go over?

First off, that would be insane. But IF that happens, for every $500 more we do, we’ll add another card to the set. So at $14,500 we’d do 5 cards… at $15,000 we’d do six… and so on.

And know, we truly appreciate every backer. We set out to tell the best Fantasy/Horror/Forbidden Romance Comic* (*Set in a coal mining town) that was ever made. And with your help, that’s happened. Kickstarter is the best thing that's happened to the independent comic book community. It gives artists a chance to find a audience and tell their stories. We’re incredibly lucky at this writing to have 347 backers who’ve chosen to believe in us. From the bottom of our coal encrusted boots, we thank each and every one of you.

But not all creators have been blessed with as many amazing supporters as we have. There are a lot of fascinating stories out there to be told. So while you’re on Kickstarter, take a look at the campaigns that are ending and see if you find any that need an extra push to cross the finish line.

One campaign that we backed today is Multi-Larceny A Sci Fi Crime Comic of Infinite Potential.

They also only have four days left and they're so close to their funding goal. The campaign has a really interesting trailer.  So check it out and if it seems like your thing, help another story come to life.

Surprise Reward #3

Oops, we did it again. A third surprise reward?  That’s right. Our backers are the best and deserve the best. Or at least the best we can provide.

Thanks to the generosity of the unbelievably kind and talented Kevin Joseph, today we get to share with you the first three issues of his time-traveling, demon-hunting, laugh-inducing series…

TART

Charlie here, Tart was one of the first books I ever backed on Kickstarter. It made me realize that the platform was a viable place to make quality independent comics. I was then fortunate enough to meet Kevin at SDCC last summer and found out that the man who’d graciously provided me advice online, was even warmer in person. I could gush about Kevin for hours. But I’ll let people with a little more objectivity do that for me.

Getting to meet fellow creators has been one of the best parts of Kickstarter for us here in White Ash. There’s a camaraderie that exists on the platform that’s truly amazing. In the last year we’ve met so many talented people. Speaking of the über-talented, Pat Shand, creator of Destiny NY (one of our absolute favorites) has a new project that launched on kickstarter just yesterday.

 

Prison Witch is already almost funded. So if you want to get in on a great-looking book that’s sure to hit loads of stretch goals, I’d check out Prison Witch before it’s gone. We’ve already backed it and if the book is anywhere close to as good as Destiny NY was (and knowing Pat, we're sure it will be) it’s a book you want on your shelf.

And one more thing...

On the other end of the spectrum, here’s a book that’s just about to leave Kickstarter and could still use a little help to make it come to life.

 

It’s always nice when you see long-time pros from the comic book industry realize that Kickstarter has become the place to self-publish. And Ron Marz and Andy Smith fit that  "Pro bill" in spades with years put in at DC, Marvel and Image. So check out Demi-God. It’ll only be available for another thirty-two hours.

And last but certainly not least, know that all of us here at Team Ash are giving a standing ovations to you, our amazing backers. We’ve blown past 11K and are rapidly closing in on that Nick Robles variant cover. (We saw a sneak peak of it last night, and trust us, you’re going to want one.) So please keep spreading the word so we can maximize your White Ash experience. Only six days left to go.

With over 300 backers (amazing) it’s happened again, Stretch Goal #3 is UNLOCKED! Every package we send from White Ash HQ, will include one of these magnetic beauties to stick on your fridge... or whatever piece of exposed metal you like best.

Right now the color version is the runaway leader to be printed, but there’s still time to VOTE.

That’s right, If we hit our 12K stretch goal, Nick will bring his amazing talent from IDW, BOOM and VAULT to White Ash to do an exclusive Kickstarter VARIANT COVER for our backers. Everyone who pledged at the BOTH COVERS level or higher, will get one N.R. variant cover FREE added to their haul. And if you pledged at the Variant Cover tier, you’ll have a choice between our V-Day cover and whatever the man who did these…

…comes up with.

These variants will be extremely rare. Nick’s star is on the rise (shooting, actually).  Fresh off of Alien Bounty Hunter at Vault, Nick just announced at ECCC he’ll be drawing EUTHANAUTS, a new title (written by Tini Howard of Assassinista’s fame) at IDW’s Black Crown imprint. We’re only printing enough Robles variants up to cover our backers and few for Conor, Fin and Charlie (yeah, obviously we want one too). In addition, we will have 10 extra copies available as add-ons post campaign, but no doubt, those will go quickly.  These variants will NOT be offered again. So if you want one, make sure you’re pledged at tier that includes them. 

(Note: the deluxe version of the PDF of Chapter Two will feature all the covers. So if you're a digital backer you will get a digital copy)

And again, thank you. When we started the campaign for Chapter Two, we hoped it would be successful enough that we could bring a talent like Nick on board. Now we’re so close to making that happen. Together we’re creating a comic that makes the best the industry has to offer want to visit to our little mining town.  Shhhhh, no one tell Nick that not everyone makes it out of White Ash alive.
